The season kicks off in early spring with the highly anticipated Spring Chinook run. These fish are among the most prized in the Northwest, known for their quality and challenge. With limited openings, we target this fishery around mid to late April, focusing on peak opportunity before the season typically closes at the end of the month.

As Columbia River seasons shift, we transition to the Willamette River spring Chinook fishery, which remains open into the summer months. This fishery offers a more hands-on experience, utilizing techniques like back trolling and back bouncing with salmon eggs around Oregon City—ideal for anglers looking for consistent action.

By late summer, the fishery ramps back up in a big way. August marks the arrival of the fall salmon run, with large numbers of Chinook and Coho staging near the mouth of the Columbia and into the Pacific. From late August through early October, we track these fish as they push upriver, adjusting locations daily to stay on active fish and maximize success.
