About Wildman Outdoor Adventures

At Phil Wildman Outdoor Adventures, fishing is about more than just catching fish—it's about creating memorable days on the water with family, friends, and anglers of all experience levels. Based in the Pacific Northwest, Captain Phil Mattson guides trips across the Columbia River, its tributaries, coastal rivers, and the Pacific Ocean, targeting some of the region's most sought-after species including salmon, sturgeon, steelhead, walleye, lingcod, rockfish, and Dungeness crab.

Phil's passion for fishing is matched only by his dedication to providing an exceptional experience for every guest who steps aboard. Long before the boat leaves the dock, he's studying tides, river conditions, weather patterns, and fish movement to ensure you're fishing in the most productive water possible. Whether you're chasing your first salmon, battling a trophy sturgeon, filling the cooler with lingcod and rockfish, or pulling crab pots loaded with Dungeness crab, Phil works hard to give you the best opportunity for success.
Families and young anglers hold a special place in Phil's operation. He loves introducing kids to the outdoors and takes pride in helping them build confidence, learn new skills, and experience the excitement of landing their first fish. His patient, hands-on approach makes every trip enjoyable for beginners while still providing the expertise experienced anglers expect.
When you fish with Phil Wildman Outdoor Adventures, you'll enjoy clean, professionally maintained boats, quality rods and tackle, advanced electronics, and a guide who genuinely cares about your experience. Most importantly, you'll spend the day with someone who puts in the work, values your time on the water, and is committed to helping you create memories that last long after the trip is over.
Whether you're planning a family fishing adventure, a bucket-list salmon trip, a trophy sturgeon hunt, or a day on the Pacific chasing bottom fish and crab, Phil will make your dream adventure a reality.

Phil Mattson (aka Wildman)

For as long as he can remember, Phil "Wildman" Mattson has had a fishing rod in his hands. Introduced to the outdoors by his father at just three years old, fishing quickly became more than a hobby—it became a lifelong passion and way of life.

Today, Phil brings that same passion to every trip he guides. Whether you're stepping onto a boat for the very first time or you're a seasoned angler looking to sharpen your skills, Phil has a unique ability to meet you where you are. He enjoys teaching beginners the fundamentals of fishing just as much as he enjoys helping experienced anglers learn new techniques and strategies that can take their success to the next level.
If trophy walleye are on your bucket list, Phil has built a reputation for consistently putting clients on quality fish. But no matter the target species or your level of experience, his goal remains the same—to provide a safe, productive, and enjoyable day on the water where great memories are made and plenty of fish are caught.
When you fish with Wildman, you're not just booking a guide—you're spending the day with someone who genuinely loves sharing the outdoors and helping others experience the excitement that fishing has given him his entire life.
